Horticultural Notes
12-24” x 12-24” Pili Grass is a native bunching grass with attractive dark brown flower spikes. It is drought tolerant but seems to do better with some irrigation.
The early Hawaiian used Pili Grass as thatch to cover their homes. Whole clumps were pulled up, trimmed of soil, roots and flower spikes and then placed close together and tied to a frame.[1]
