fronds to 12”+ Hoe a Maui means ‘Maui’s Paddle’ as the unique fronds resemble canoe paddles or tongues.[1] They are mostly epiphytic and found growing on old trees or logs. The fronds of this species are smooth and shiny and the sori (the fruiting bodies) are dense dark sand-like clusters.
