Broussaisia arguta

Horticultural Notes

6′ x 10′          This is Hawaii’s native Hydrangea with medium green, strongly veined leaves and toothed edges.  The upright woody shrub has spectacular flowers and comes in many colors from lavender to creamy whites.  Plants often spread from underground roots.  Birds favor the dark blue to dark red fruits and the early Hawaiians consumed not only the fruits but also the flowers.[1]
